Election of Trustees to Pension Fund Board

Election of trustees to the TSDBF: (Transnet Second Defined Benefit Fund)

I am sure that everybody took note of the decision taken by the Orange Tail Association to distance ourselves from supporting the candidates proposed by  TPAG after receiving negative correspondence from them.  Only two candidates approached the Orange Tail for support of their candidature by our members, and both are fully paid up members. The two candidates are:

CLAIR FICHARDT:

Clair retired as a B747 Captain after 35 years with SAA and dedicated 1 year to the Pilots Association as Industrial Director, 1 year as Vice President, and then 5 years as President/Chairman.
*    Under the guidance of Professor Nic Wiehahn, he initiated the change from Association to Union, thus gaining representation on the Pension and Medical Boards, which was previously denied to the pilot body.
As the pilots first Pension Fund representative, he attended the meeting where the 2% issue was raised, with Transnet CEO Anton Moolman promising this was a temporary measure to give the fund time to recover – this promise was never honoured. He submitted an affidavit to Advocate Alberts and is prepared to give evidence on this issue.
*    Clair is dedicated to achieving inflation related pension increases and bonuses, and will fight for Pensioner Trustees and Pensioner appointed Actuaries to take over the control and running of their pension fund, removing Transnet from any involvement in the distribution of YOUR money!
Will fight for pensioners to receive appropriate back pay.

LEN JORDAAN:

*   Len holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and was a Senior Manager in the finance department of SAA and is fully bilingual.
He also held positions as Senior Manager (Internal Audit) and Marketing Manager for SAA. Len also was the Manager, Eastern USA, based in New York.
In addition Len Jordaan led the SAA delegation to Taiwan to set up flight operations to that country.
He also was the SAA delegate to  IATA meetings, and was the Chairman of the IATA airlines Agency Investigation Panel (SA) as well as the Bank Settlement Plan Southern Africa Steering Panel
