South Africa’s latest Domestic airline joins two other newcomers, Skywise and FastJet. These 3 new airlines will soon enter the SA domestic market. Already rumours are rife that FlySafair is jut another “front” company for the SAA-Government alliance to squeeze the two newcomers out of the market. SafAir for many years have been a partner of SAA and often do their flights for them when short of an aircraft.

Minister Gigagaba made it very clear that any newcomer will have to realise that they will have to compete against a state subsidised domestic airline. He hinted on the fact that they will not tolerate any competition.

Several forums have expressed their concern that the government is involved in running a business with the clearly expressed aim of closing down their opposition and causing unemployment of many people. It is thought that a government should rather create employment and encourage free market competition.
