Oud SAL Kapt Sakkie van der Merwe skryf as volg:

Sakkie & Frances vd Merwe

Joppie, my ou groot Mater, jy is n kampioen!!
Bietjie nuus hier van my en Frances af.

Reg voor ons kamervenster is daar twee groot betonblokke, so 5 meter x 5 meter – nou n nasionale gedenkwaardigheid!

Minimum temperatuur 23 grade.. maksimum…. 33!

12 grade 11′ 20.9  Suid.
96 grade 49’46.8 Oos.
Ons is sowat 3,000 km van Perth!
Ons tel.no?….. +6189-162-7711.
Sel-foon?……. Nope!

Boeregroete,
Sakkie en Frances van der Merwe.

Vitor Medina visits Chicken House

July 22, 2013 in 02 - Correspondence

LISBOA – Casa do Frango – Muito Bom!

Ex SAA Flight Steward Vitor Medina sent us these pics. He is on a holiday in Lisbon and made a point of lunching at the Chicken House.

(I still remember Vitor was one of the residents of the infamous “Huis Karba” crowd that shared a house in Kempton Park with Nick Pienaar, Dries du Toit, Mike Leeder and Wouter Brink in the 1970′s – we had many a good party there!)

Vitor writes as follows:

Hi Joppie,
You are welcome to post these Lisbon pics on the website. Good memories of Lisbon!
The old man in photo has been at the Chicken House for 52 years now and remembers the SAA crew very well. He even remembers the crew singing Sarie Marais.

Good times!!!! – Cheers, Vitor Medina
